Bio:

XR-EG4, or Reggie as he has been dubbed by his owner, Kari Kase, is an Industrial Automaton’s GNK unit.

Despite being amongst the silliest looking models every pushed off the production like, without the GNK power droid, starships would sputter, instrumets would falter, and modern society would generally grind to a halt.
Power droids are ambulatory fusion generators – “walking batteries”, some say. Their job is to provide systems energy to mechanical devices in situations where a permanent power grid is unavailable or inconvenient. The droids are common sights in ship hangars, repulsor pools, and tech domes.

Their single-fcuntion purpose accounts for their rather bland appearnce. A large part of a GNK’s innards consists of its fusion generator, which is protected from shocks by a heavy armoured exterior. The droid is built to survive a variety of disasters, up to and including a radiation conduit breach. Reggie is also fitted with a small shield generator, which was added by Kari in the hopes that the constant stream of power coming from his fusion reactor would keep it operating at a high level.

Some teething troubles have been found with this plan, though the exact cause of this is unknown. Technically the shield should maintain a high level of power, however, it only seems willing to draw power from the generator when prompted to do so manually. Kari’s current theory on why this is the case comes down to the GNK’s highly sophisticated systems diagnostic package.

This incorporates a spectrometer and three scanners – infrared, sonar, and x-ray. The droid uses these sonsors to run detailed safety chekcs on the equiment it is serviceng. If the number and severity of flaws fall outside the droi’s preprogrammed tolerance ranges, it refuses to fuel the item. This dramatically decreases the number of accidental explosions, but gives the GNK a justified reputation for stubbornness. In other words, Reggie doesn’t think the shield is up to a constant stream of power.

Despite the GNK’s acoustic signaler only being capable of droid and computer languages, he and Kari seem able to share conversations together, something which has brought her closer to the little droid than to most people.
