Bio:

After the tragic death of their parents, both Kari and Valin spent time in an orphanage; the two rarely speak of their time there, leading most to assume it was not a happy time for them. One this is certan, however, it was while there that both of them found ways of dealing with their great loss and the trials of growing up in that environment which would follow them into later life. While Valin quickly learnt that a basic knowledge of brawling would help both him and his sister, as well as spending time learning card games, Kari spent much of her time alone in the institutes speeder garage where she would be left alone by the other kids. Only the old mechanic/driver spent time there and he seemed unbothered by the silent girl’s presence.

As time passed, he noticed her watching his maintenance of the orphanage’s aging speeders with great interested and set about training an apprentice. He would not, as he regularly reminded her, be around for ever, you know!
Kari was a quick learner and, as it turned out, a skilled mechanic, and in the time she spent at the orphanage, gained a working knowledge of speeders, some droid types, and computers. Also, learning as much as she could about ships without actually having one to practice on.

After leaving the orphanage Kari found work in one of the many droid factories that dominate Tros-ssikar’s surface. Already equipped with a basic knowledge of how they worked, she found that, very quickly, a real talent for the work was cultivated at the plant, even modifying droids like XR-EG4 in her spare time.

When her gambling brother asked her to leave her job and help him crew his newly acquired spaceship she was not keen. Her introvesion and obession with mechanics coming hand in hand with a deep mistrust of almost all others, but after the offer of a 50 percent share in the ship was put before her, she agreed to help…she could not, after all, lose her only human tie.
